From One Day to Five Months

Client: UKO AG – the audio suite

    Agency: 423 engaged ideas

    Timeline: 5 months, March–August 2025

My Role: Strategic Design Consultant, Motion Designer, UX Coach

Platform: Web (WIX), Custom Motion Graphics

Deliverables: Brand Strategy, Video Staging, Motion Graphics, Design Coaching

How coaching turned a one-day brief into a partnership

A one-day mockup brief became a five-month design partnership. Instead of delivering finished layouts, I coached UKO's team to see, decide, and iterate independently—transforming their boutique website into a premium brand experience through strategic positioning, motion graphics, and design education.

Core shift: From design delivery to design empowerment for small businesses embracing DIY culture.

    The Challenge

How do you make sound visible when clients want to own the process?

UKO approached me for a one-day homepage mockup. But the real challenge ran deeper: They wanted to elevate their brand from boutique to premium—without losing control.

    What made this complex:

    • DIY Culture: Jeff and Adrian needed to own the design and build it themselves on WIX, not just receive finished deliverables
    • Sound as Hero: Making audio tangible in a visual medium while keeping authenticity

    The Solution

From executor to partner—coaching as a design method

    Strategic Foundation + Live Coaching

Before touching pixels, we analyzed their positioning against competitors (TONIQ, DubDub, Jingle Jungle) and defined their differentiator:

«From UFO to UKO»—more straightforward, more human, courageous.

Then I ran three hands-on sessions teaching Jeff and Adrian typography hierarchy, spacing, UI consistency, and custom CSS for video integration. So they could make decisions, not just execute my vision.

Competor analysis - l-r: TONIQ “mainstream”, UKO “unique” (2nd WIX draft), DUB DUB “genre”

    Motion Graphics as Brand Language

28 hours of crafting custom video staging turned the given video into a brand image that sets the tone: text animation and video ramping, matching the audio rhythm, and optimised video encoding provided seamless WIX integration.

Sound became visible. The hero video became their signature—not buzzed, but an authentic brand experience itself.

    The Result

A one-day brief became design education

From 1 day to 5 months—because trust compounds.

    Impact:

    • Scope Evolution: 1-day mockup → 50+ hours strategic partnership
    • Team Empowerment: Jeff and Adrian now lead design decisions independently
    • Brand Positioning: Shifted from «sympathetic boutique» to «premium audio suite with its uniqui personality»

    Client Feedback:

«The visual direction and staging—we can really identify with this. It's us, but elevated.» Jeff
«First we were overhelmed, now we are clear in our vision and everything make sence for what we stand for» Adrian

    Typo lessons

It's not just taste; it's the knowledge of how to optimise fonts for readability or to emphasise the point. Honestly, there is no right and wrong–just the conscious decision about what should remain.

    Key Takeaways

    The DIY-Culture Shift

Small businesses don't want full-service—they want empowerment

This project taught me something critical about today's small businesses: They embrace DIY culture. They don't want finished deliverables—they want the knowledge to build and iterate on their own.

As a full-stack designer, this changes everything:

    • From executor to consultant → Teaching trumps delivering
    • From designer to coach → Empowerment beats perfection
    • From vendor to partner → Trust compounds when clients own the vision

UKO didn't just get a website—they got a method, a visual vocabulary, and the confidence to apply it to every touchpoint.

    Why This Matters

That's not design delivery. That's design education.

And for agencies hiring versatile designers? This is the shift: We're not just making things anymore. We're enabling clients to make things themselves—faster, smarter, more aligned with their vision.
