Preface
Being a Designer is my most challenging Job to keep
The role of designers has undergone a significant transformation with the emergence of UX and evolving industry requirements. From primarily focusing on visual aesthetics, designers now must master a complex intersection of user research, strategic thinking, and technological understanding.
Today's designers are expected to drive continuous improvement and innovation, staying ahead of industry trends while balancing user needs with business objectives. The disruptive arrival of AI tools and emerging technologies will further expand the designer's toolkit, requiring adaptability and continuous learning.
Modern UX designers must navigate multiple disciplines—from conducting user research and usability testing to maintaining design systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This evolution has led to what industry experts call the "pancaking" of UX roles, where designers need to be versatile professionals capable of handling various aspects of the product development process.
The Job to be done
How might we provide affordable, shareable, high-quality design learning experiences?
Almost no e-learning platform queries knowledge and skills in the design field and offers free learning aids. To support future designers in recognizing the appropriate role in a design team and to underpin it with a recognized certificate.
The Result
The EVO Platform Delivers Engaging, Accessible Design Learning Experience
The Evo platform successfully addressed the need for accessible, bite-sized design learning. User research and iterative design led to a platform with intuitive navigation, engaging quizzes, and a focus on accessibility, particularly for users with dyslexia. Usability testing confirmed positive user reception and highlighted key areas for future development.
The test users described the design and user guidance as particularly simple and appealing. Most users found the idea of the skill matrix and the easily recognizable personal skill profile to be beneficial and innovative.

Insights
On-the-go is the new learning experience, fast, short, and memorable.
My research revealed key insights about user needs in design education: Modern web designers, often juggling busy schedules, seek quick learning opportunities through their smartphones. Understanding quiz content presents a unique challenge for dyslexic users that requires thoughtful support. Additionally, I found that while users value high-quality design education, cost remains a significant factor in their learning decisions.
The data strongly suggests that mobile-first learning is essential, as many users prefer to learn on-the-go. Finally, users strongly desired meaningful feedback and supplementary resources following quiz completion, highlighting the importance of comprehensive learning support.
Key Findings
Participant Perceptions and Eye Movement: A/B Testing Reveals Consistent User Feedback
When designing the evo quiz list, I used an A-B test to check my assumptions. I asked the participants to pay close attention to their personal perceptions, especially eye movements and irritation. I was surprised that the participants accepted this and almost all shared similar observations. User testing with a focus on the user's personal perception can be very helpful and profitable for a project.
Next Steps
Dig deeper, get more insights to do the right thing
If this were more than a study project, I would continue with the following aspects:
- Elaboration of user flows and screens that have not yet been included.
- Combined with conducting User-Tests to evaluate the best solution.
- Deeper and more specific user tests and interviews for critical site areas. For example, lists with filters and search functions, or the quiz process.
- Further, studies and researches related to inactive video quizzes and their accessibility.
